At Nick (“we”, “our”, “us”), your privacy is our core design principle. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Nick mobile application (“Service”).

1. Our Privacy-First Design

Nick is built to minimize data collection and eliminate message storage:

• All conversations are end-to-end encrypted.
• Messages, media, and audio are not stored on our servers.
• Messages are not stored on your device.
• Conversations only exist while both participants are actively in the chat.
• When you leave the chat or background the app, your conversation is cleared.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect or store:

• Message content
• Images, videos, or audio shared in chats
• Chat history
• Contact lists
• User profiles or real names
• Behavioral tracking data

3. Limited Information We May Process

To operate the Service, we may process minimal technical data:

• Anonymous device identifiers required for push notifications
• Temporary connection metadata (e.g., IP address during an active session)
• Session presence signals (online/offline state)

This information is used solely to provide the Service and is not stored longer than necessary.

4. Push Notifications (“Pokes”)

Nick uses push notifications only to notify you that another user wishes to start a conversation.

• No message content is included in notifications.
• No sender identity is displayed in notifications.
• No chat data is transmitted through push services.

5. End-to-End Encryption

All messages and media are encrypted on your device and decrypted only on the recipient’s device. We do not have access to encryption keys and cannot read any communication.

6. Temporary Sessions

Conversations only exist during active participation. If you close the app, leave the chat screen, or background the app, your session ends and data is cleared.

7. Screenshots and External Recording

Nick attempts to prevent in-app screenshots and screen previews where possible. However, we cannot prevent recording by external devices or compromised operating systems.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect the limited technical data required to operate the Service. Because we do not store conversations, there is no message database to breach.

9. Children’s Privacy

Nick is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. International Users

If you access Nick from outside our operating jurisdiction, you consent to the processing of minimal technical data necessary to provide the Service.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted within the app and on this page.
